Campbelltown Police served an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) on a 40 year old man, which related to is ex partner.
The grounds of the application outlined very serious allegations of sexual assault over a lengthy period of time.
Police advised Ms Regan that they would continue investigations into the alleged sexual assaults in the mean time.
In the wake of these investigations, Ms Regan commenced negotiations with the police detectives in charge of the investigation.
As a result of these negotiations, the police agreed to cease any further investigations of the sexual allegations, bringing the matter to an end.
This was in response to the ADVO being made final by consent on a without admissions basis. ‘Without Admissions’ meant that Ms Regan’s client at no stage agreed to what was alleged in the grounds of the application, however agreed to comply with the conditions.
If charges were laid, it could have resulted in the refusal of Ms Regan’s clients bail as well as a long and stressful court process at the Campbelltown Local and District Court.
Our client was able to move on with his life without the burden and stresses of being investigated further, and the AVO case being concluded.
